​​​​​​​​​​​​This ​indicator ​is to notify you that ​your hood is not completely shut. Some vehicles use the Door Ajar indicator light to alert you.

​​​​​​​​​​​​Hoods have ​two separate latches, they are not likely to open while you are driving. However relying on the second safety latch would not be advisable and if the hood is not completely shut while driving, stop immediately and properly secure the hood being shut.

​If the hood is fully shut but the indicator is still on, you may have a faulty switch or connection. Seek out a professional to diagnose the issue.
