​​2003 Honda ​Accord - Peeling Clear Coat

​Overall Paint job Due To Paint Failure

​If you are familiar with Honda's, you know they make great cars but plan on getting it repainted. Honda's are renowned for peeling clear coat. Owner bought this car new and took really good care of it. However it still started peeling, flaking and hazing up.  

​I had to sand most of the clear off the upper areas. The clear started hazing on the lower part of the car but it was still bonded to the base-coat. Once the paint was sanded down, the car got primered tow different times. After that it was a block sand, put in sealer and then painted. I used a single stage urethane paint called Nason. Nason was the generic version of Dupont. Now Dupont is Axalta and Cromax.

All of my cars in my pictures and videos are actual real customer's cars, so usually my main focus is to get the job done. However I plan to do better in the future.

The clear is dead, almost a haze

The car was regularly washed and taken good care of, the paint just failed
The entire car had to be thoroughly DA and hand sanded
Most of the clear had to be sanded off the hood as none of the clear was still bonded to the basecoat
It was only most of the top and top edges that the clear had peeled
Upon sanding around the sun-roof, found heavy dips and waves on the corner of the opening
Applied 2 coats urethane primer to block sand down to level the surface from all the DA sanding
Second time of applying 2 more coats of primer for the final sanding
Final wet sanded the primer with 400 grit sand paper
Just been painted with Nason urethane single stage
Car is ready to unmask, will start color sanding the paint to buff the following day
Buffed the trunk lid out before installing the spoiler
Started the buffing process on the whole car
Using my 3 stage buffing process, the car is starting to look deep
You can see the mirror reflection in both the trunk lid and spoiler
After being color sanded, buffed, washed and waxed
I love to see the sky and trees in the hood
Customer was really happy, and that is what its all about
